Text description of the project map

The map above shows the subregions in North East England with the strategic projects marked on.  The subregions are:

• Northumberland, a large area taking up the north of the region.  Major towns include Berwick upon Tweed, Alnwick, Morpeth and Hexham.
• Tyne and Wear, a smaller area south of Northumberland and bordering the coast.  Major cities include Newcastle and Sunderland, with Newcastle International Airport located just outside Newcastle.
• County Durham, a region stretching east to west south of both Northumberland and Tyne and Wear.  Major towns include Durham and Bishop Auckland.
• The Tees Valley region in the extreme south-east of the region.  Major towns include Darlington, Hartlepool and Middlesborough.  Durham Tees Valley airport is located outside Darlington.

The urban rengeration companies projects are located as follows:

• Central Park is found in Darlington, in the south of the Tees Valley region
• Durham Tees Valley airport is located outside Darlington,  in the south of the region
• the North Shore development is situated at Stockton, in the Tees Valley area
• Middlehaven is located at Middlesbrough, in the in the south east of the Tees Valley area
• Victoria Harbour is at Hartlepool, on the north coast of the of Tees Valley area
• Sunniside, Holmside, Vaux Brewery, Farringdon Row and Stadium Park/Sheepfolds are all in the Sunderland area, on the coast in the south of the Tyne & Wear region
