Regional Image Strategy

The ‘Passionate people. Passionate places’ campaign, launched in 2005, is North East England’s Regional Image Campaign which has proved hugely popular across the region as well as gaining award winning recognition on an international scale.

Over the last three years the campaign has successfully raised the profile of the region’s quality of life offer as well as positioning North East England as a great location to invest, do business, live, work and visit.  From September 2008, the campaign has evolved to focus on business and innovation.

Communicating innovation

The Regional Image Campaign will place the North East at the heart of global innovation, promoting the groundbreaking work taking place here that will shape tomorrow’s world.  By increasing awareness and creating positive perceptions of North East England and its vibrant business base, we can encourage investment to the region as well as attracting talented people to choose North East England to develop their career.

Five key sectors have been identified as areas of strength and future growth for the region:

• Advanced manufacturing and automotive
• Chemicals
• Digital media and animation
• Energy and low carbon technology
• Healthcare and life sciences

Communication of these key sectors and our vibrant business base will include the regional image website www.northeastengland.co.uk focusing on the benefits of investing, living and working in the North East; regional and national advertising and PR; and interactive social marketing to engage with stakeholders across the region and across the world.

Become an ambassador for North East England

A regional initiative called North East England Ambassadors has been set up to equip regional businesses with all the information, facts and figures and promotional tools that they need to talk about the fantastic, innovative work being carried out in North East England.  It centres around an online toolkit from which you can download PDFs, word docs and images to use in presentations, speeches or on your own website and marketing materials, all totally free of charge.  The toolkit also gives access to the free ‘Passionate about’ straplines that over 1000 regional businesses have already adopted to suit their own business messages.
