Key DTI Targets

The Promoting the Region Programme will not directly deliver DTI Targets.

The Regional Economic Strategy identifies that if we are to improve the economic performance of the region, we need to improve its image.

Research has shown that where people have visited the region, they are more likely to make positive decisions about returning to it, whether for business, leisure or study. Therefore, promoting the region’s people, places, businesses, assets and quality of life is key to North East England’s economic growth.

North East England now has a huge opportunity to make a big step forward step-change in the nature of its tourism marketing. There are two main activities in this programme to promote the region:
