Fox Cover and Dawdon Enterprise Zones, Seaham
As part of the strategy for the regeneration of Seaham, two Enterprise Zones were created on former coalfield sites to the south of the town and linked to the A19 by the new A182.
Fox Cover (44 acres) and Dawdon (33 acres) Enterprise Zones were reclaimed and serviced under the National Coalfield Programme and now accommodate several major occupiers (Department of Work and Pensions, Robertson Timber, Harry Yearsley Limited, Fortress Industries) and offer a range of speculative call centres and business unit to let.
Work is currently concluding on a new call centre building at Dawdon and three construction projects have recently started: a logistics centre for Innovate Holdings and a speculative warehouse project at Fox Cover and further speculative call centre space at Dawdon.
Preferred developer status over remaining plots has recently been granted to Hillford Group at Dawdon and Grantside Developments Limited at Fox Cover. Both developers have a programme to build out the remaining sites in accordance with a dedicated design code.
