Enterprise Development North East
Enterprise Development North East Limited (EDNE) is an incubator company set up by One North East to enable project ideas to be tested before a project is ‘put to the market’.
EDNE was incorporated in 2001 under the name North East Regional Portal 2001 Limited. EDNE was the first company incorporated by any RDA and has a general commercial objects clause. This allows the Agency to use the company as an incubator to develop projects through a series of business divisions. The examples of projects being developed in EDNE are:
• The Centre for eBusiness Division – was the first business division of EDNE established in April 2008. The Centre for eBusiness is led by Pascal Fintoni. Its focus over the next 3 years is to release the full potential of e-business on the region’s economy.
• Regional Language Network (RLN) Division – the Regional Language Network (‘RLN’) Division was created in August 2009, and this division aims to promote a greater national capability in language and cultural skills for business employment. RLN is one of a series of Regional Language Networks throughout England.
