On March 17 2011, Mark Prisk, Minister of State for Business and Enterprise, announced a streamlined and refocused Solutions for Business portfolio. In the 2006 Budget, the Government announced a Business Support Simplification Programme (BSSP) to streamline the system of around 3,000 business support schemes to 100 or less by 2010. The result of this process is a simplified, cost effective and better targeted portfolio of business support products that is better accessed and understood by business.
In simple terms, this makes it easier for businesses and entrepreneurs to understand and access the support available.
Solutions for Business
Solutions for Business (SfB) is the Government's package of publicly funded business support products and services designed to help businesses start, grow and succeed.
The right advice, loan or grant – at the right time - can make the world of difference to your business. Solutions for Business products are simple to understand and access, good value for money and directed to where they will have most impact to help businesses grow. They are designed to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills you need to tackle issues your business might be facing.
One North East funds and delivers a range of SfB products and services. These include the Manufacturing Advisory Service, Grant for Business Investment and Grant for R&D.
Eligible businesses can gain support in areas such as starting up, understanding finance, training and skill development, resource efficiency, exploiting ideas, accessing international opportunities and growing your business. Accessing business support
One North East also funds the region's Business Link service.
Business Link is the main gateway to all business support both publicly and privately funded. Business Link advisers provide independent advice and guidance on the type of business support that will best fit the individual needs of your business.
